Students at a Mentorthon session in Marakwet

Mentorthon in Marakwet ran across roughly 140 schools and eight venues, reaching close to 1,000 students. The speakers were founders and chief executives, and the format was deliberately plain: people who have built something standing in front of young people and telling them how they actually did it.

The premise is that opportunity is not the first constraint in this county. Self belief is. A student who does not believe the door will open does not walk towards it, however wide it is being held.

As Tim puts it: "Leadership is not about accumulation, it is about change. Changing the way people think and changing their lives.
