Privacy Policy
How the Kait Sait campaign collects, uses and protects your personal data, and the rights you hold under the Data Protection Act 2019.

Who we are
This website is run by the Kait Sait campaign, the campaign to elect Tim Kipchumba as Senator for Elgeyo Marakwet County in 2027. For the purposes of the Data Protection Act 2019, the campaign is the data controller for the personal data described in this notice. What we collect
We only collect what you give us. When you fill in the contact form we collect your first and last name, email address, phone number and your message. When you sign up to volunteer we collect your name, email address, phone number, your ward or location, the kind of help you are offering and any message you add. When you invite Tim to speak we collect your name, your organisation, your contact details and the details of your event. When you join the newsletter we collect your email address.
When you give to the campaign, the payment itself is handled by Safaricom M-Pesa, I&M Bank or PayPal. We do not see or store your M-Pesa PIN, your card number or your bank login. We do see the reference, the amount, the date and the name attached to the payment.
We also collect basic, aggregated information about how the site is used, such as which pages are visited and roughly where visitors come from. This is not used to identify you personally.
Why we use it
We use your details to reply to you, to organise volunteers and events, to send you the campaign updates you asked for, to acknowledge and account for donations, and to meet our record keeping obligations. Where we rely on your consent, such as for the newsletter, you can withdraw that consent at any time.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data and we do not trade it with other campaigns. We share it only with the service providers who make this site and this campaign run, including our website host, our email and messaging tools, and the payment providers named above, and only to the extent that they need it. We will also disclose data where the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
We keep campaign correspondence and volunteer records for the life of the campaign, and for as long afterwards as the law requires us to account for them. Newsletter subscribers are kept until you unsubscribe. Donation records are kept for the period required by Kenyan law.
Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act 2019 you have the right to be told what data we hold about you, to get a copy of it, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to ask us to delete it, to object to how we are using it, and to withdraw your consent. Write to info@kaitsait.org and we will respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.
Keeping it safe
Access to campaign data is limited to the people who need it, and it is held in systems protected by passwords and access controls. No system is perfect. If a breach affects your data in a way the law requires us to report, we will tell you promptly.
Cookies
This site uses only the cookies needed to make it work and to count visits. It does not run advertising trackers.
Changes to this notice
If this notice changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. If the change is significant, we will say so on the site.
