Built, Not Promised: The Record Behind Kait Sait

1 min

Tim Kipchumba co-founded Questworks at 27, funding part of the start from his book royalties. The company has since built the largest solar plant in the country, delivered more than 1,000 acres of solar, put up the Strathmore University buildings, and won the Presidential Green Building Award and NCA Contractor of the Year.
It has also nearly died. In 2016 the firm was owed around KSh 200 million and came close to collapse. It was the same year Tim was named a Mandela Washington Fellow and made the Top 40 Under 40 list. Both things were true at once.
Today Questworks employs more than 200 young people. That is the argument in one sentence: this is a record you can walk around and touch, not a promise you are asked to take on faith.
